I think writers write when they must write, there is compulsion, the vibe is powerful- the reader knows passionate writing.

What if the writer is an easily distracted perfectionist who tends to get lost in the weeds halfway through a piece when a new and shinier idea pops into their head?

I like your writing. I like your content and your take on things.

Thanks! I sometimes have a hard time assessing my own work, I have to remember that I'm still an amateur at this and so comparing my pieces to guys who've been doing it for years isn't exactly fair.

I’m a fan. Substance is 👍🏻

Read, read, read, and write, write, write, that is the purpose of sub stack.

So what if you are like me? 😏

If I stop feeling the thing that I am writing, I switch gears and write something more formal, and formulaic, generally work related— engineering is a natural antidote to creativity.

You must be doing something right if your subscriber base has grown. I liked what someone wrote in the comments: “Read, read read and write, write, write.” I would just add: Edit, edit, edit. Which I think you’re probably doing a lot of already.

I guess you’ll see in a year’s time where you’re at with number of subscribers.

Good on you for going for it.

Restating something that was said 10 years ago isn't bad if it's accurate. Think of how marketers approach repitition.... And then think of it again....

I think in terms of compression and slightly different angles. Like, I want to write a piece about language games that covers some of the same ground that Scott covered years ago, but I have a much less charitable take than he did and I think I can get the point across in a shorter and punchier form.

That would be helpful, because I don't have time for most of his articles, LOL!

Look at what The Liberal Patriot guys are doing. They repeat their own core message in different ways, a lot of the time. Very solid brand they have going.

Like one cult leader I used to follow said: "A true revivalist only has one sermon."

True, I enjoy Ruy over there, but he does kind of write the same column over and over about how the Dems are screwed with the working class and they need to kick out the wokes. Which is true, but I guess he could branch out a bit.
